PRESS RELEASE

Title: SPEAK UP, MIGRANTS FOR CHANGE

Dates: 7 July 2025 – 11 July 2025
Nordic Youth Unite to Counter Disinformation and Humanize Migration Stories
The organizers from Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland of SPEAK UP, MIGRANTS FOR CHANGE are proud to announce the launch of a groundbreaking one-week initiative aimed at empowering young migrants and their peers across Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and
Finland. Running from 7th July to 11 July 2025, this project seeks to equip participants with the knowledge and digital tools needed to counter disinformation and harmful stereotypes about migration.
Through a series of interactive workshops and collaborative events, youth will explore innovative storytelling methods—such as photovoice and short-form videos (Reels)to share authentic, personal migration stories. By using photography and digital media, the project aims to challenge mainstream narratives, humanize migration experiences, and foster greater public understanding.
Key outcomes of the project include:
An e-guidebook on spotting and combating fake news and disinformation.
A powerful collection of photovoice stories and short videos, available online with open access.
A pilot training course for refining digital literacy and media skills.
An online exhibition hosted on platforms like Facebook and Instagram to amplify migrant voices.
Participants and partner organizations will also benefit from digital upskilling, critical media literacy, and practical training to counter existing biases and spread positive, fact-based stories. NGO workers and adult educators will learn to implement these tools, helping to create a network of active citizens committed to promoting inclusion and combating prejudice.
By combining grassroots storytelling with innovative digital media, SPEAK UP, MIGRANTS FOR CHANGE aims to transform public discourse and inspire collective action for a more inclusive society.
Details on workshop dates and how to get involved will be announced soon. Media and community members are invited to follow and support this important movement. The language of instruction will be English and the place for the international meeting will be Helsinki Finland
